Rainbow Frosting: A "How To"

Let's be honest.  Cupcakes are amazing.  Equally amazing is the frosting on top.  So why not give the delicious sweetness a little color?
Here are the steps to creating multi-colored frosting to adorn your cake or cupcakes!

Step 1: Select a frosting recipe and make it.  My personal preference is vanilla/almond buttercream.

Step 2: Divide the frosting into several dishes, depending on how many colors you are going to make.  Then, add food coloring to create the appropriate color.  If the frosting gets too soft, add powdered sugar until the desired consistency is created.

Step 3: Fold your piping bag down so that it is easier to fill with frosting.  Take a couple tablespoons of each color and scrape the frosting into one side of the bag using a long spatula or frosting spatula.

Step 4. Push the frosting down to the tip of the bag, creating a swirled or "tie-dye" look in the piping bag.

Step 5: Frost cupcakes using desired tip.

Step 6: Leave the mess for someone else! :)
